Ellenore Boyum, 81, a resident of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford and a former Utica-area farm homemaker, died February. 10, 2001 at the nursing home.

Ellenore Holland was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Sebeka, Ottertail County, MN., attended a county school and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1936. On Oct.10, 1940, she married Chester Boyum at Paddock Bethel Church in Sebeka and they farmed in the Utica area until her husband's death in 1992. A longtime member of Arendahl Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday school, was president of the ladies aid, held a number of church offices and served on committees. She was a member of the Peterson Garden Club and served as its president for several years, and was a member of Vesterheim, Iowa State China Club and the Lanesboro Sons of Norway. She enjoyed rosemaling, china painting, oil painting, painting porcelain dolls, quilting, flower gardening and floral designing.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Boyum of Rushford and Shirley (Orvin) Helgemoe of Utica; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Swanberg of Golden Valley, MN; and a brother, Silas (Lillian) Holland of Peterson.

Her twin sister and a brother preceded her in death.

The funeral for Ellenore Boyum was held February 16, 2001 at Arendahl Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, with the Rev. Peter Huggenvick officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
