Lula Vix, 88, of Houston, a longtime area farm homemaker, died Sunday, January 28, 2001, at Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.

Lula A. Ray was born May 6, 1912, in Houston County. She married Lloyd O. Vix in 1930 in Winona, and they farmed in the Houston area all their married lives. In addition to helping with the farm work, she was employed at Auto Lite in La Crosse and Rush Products in Rushford. Her husband died in 1987. Mrs. Vix was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was a member of WELCA and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the north and south senior citizens groups in La Crosse. She enjoyed yard work, driving tractors, playing cards and camping.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd J. (June) and Charles (Barbara), both of Houston; a daughter, Ruth (Donald) Boyum of Houston; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lora (Kenneth) Schlabach of Holmen, WI. A sister and five brothers preceded her in death.

The funeral for Lula A. Vix was held Wednesday, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Hokah. Hoff Funeral Homes-Houston Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
