Louise Richards, 94, of Mabel, MN died February 21, 2001 at the St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.

Louise was born January 6, 1907 in Houston County, MN to Philip and Bertha (Neumann) Elsheimer. She attended school in Houston County. For many years she was the organist at the Crooked Creek Church. On June 26, 1928 she married Wiliam Richards in Eitzen, MN and they farmed in the Crooked Creek area until 1965 when they moved to the Mabel area. William died December 29, 1971. Louise was a member of the Mabel United Methodist Church, the Mary Circle and was the custodian of her church for 24 years, retiring at the age of 90. Louise was a hard worker and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed her. She enjoyed her large garden and shared it with others. She loved the piano and could often be heard playing and singing hymns.

Louise is survived by two sons Dale (Fern) Richards of Brownsville, MN and Virgil (Sandra) Richards of Rapid City, SD; two daughters Lois (John) Shelton of New Carrollton, MD, and Virginia (Donald) Pavek; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her husband; a great grandchild; her parents; and two brothers.

The funeral for Louise Richards was held February 26, 2001 at the Mabel United Methodist Church in Mabel with the Rev. David Laechel officiating. Burial was in the Mabel Public Cemetery. Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
