Gladys L. Forte, 82, of Chatfield, a retired cake decorator, died February 12, 2001 at Olmsted Medical Center hospital in Rochester.

Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Pilot Mound Township, Fillmore County, she grew up in rural Chatfield and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1936. She was a cake decorator at Terry's Bakery in Plymouth, Mich. She returned to Chatfield in 1977.

Survivors include two sisters, Verna Priebe of Chatfield and Mabel Luckett of Eolia, MO. A brother and four sisters preceded her in death.

A memorial service for Gladys L. Forte was held February 17, 2001 at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with the Rev. Dennis Cox-Townsend of the Chatfield United Methodist Church officiating. The body was cremated.
