No, I didn't miss a meal last week. For those of you who missed my Real Bites commentary, I'm back with a full belly.

In between meetings on a busy Tuesday, my wife and I scheduled to have a family sit-down dinner with Olivia and Landon at Pedal Pushers Cafe in Lanesboro.

I'm sure almost everyone in Fillmore County has been there. So, I probably don't need to brag up the food much, since you know they score a TEN on the "delicious scale."

Truly, Pedal Pushers Cafe has become a local tourist destination for our family.

We appreciate the family-friendly atmosphere, especially knowing that this dining establishment is owned and operated by a local family. The husband and wife team, Scott and Angie Taylor, bring their family to the stage of a superb dining experience. And, now that they've extended their reach to open the doors to Kari's, a Scandinavian-themed restaurant just down the street, Lanesboro has another option for dining and catering.

As a matter of fact, I received a phone call the other day from Katherine Anstett (a shirt-tail relative) from the Twin Cities, telling me she met Angie at Pedal Pushers Cafe and inquired if they would be a good option for catering the Sethre family reunion scheduled for June of 2011 in Lanesboro. "Of course," I said. And, I told Katherine you really can't go wrong with selecting any restaurant in Fillmore County as a catering option. They're all locally owned and operated by people who care about providing a positive experience.

I feel fortunate to live in an area where we have absolutely no corporate-owned restaurants. Every restaurant in our area is family owned and operated. Every dining establishment in the area provides something unique from the ambiance to the tasty bites that keep us coming back for more. We have a great selection of restaurants right here in our own backyard, and I plan on sharing my dining experiences from one town to the next.
