Mildred F. Johnson, 97, of Harmony, a homemaker and former teacher, died February 27, 2001 at her home.

Mildred Frances Sauter was born June 15, 1903, in Hutchinson, MN, to Will and Margaret (Harmon) Sauter. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1921. She graduated from St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1925 and then taught elementary school in Harmony for two years. On Oct. 20, 1927, she married Harold T. Johnson in Grove Lake, MN, and they lived in Harmony all their married lives. Her husband died in 1995. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church and Lutheran Ladies Aid, Harmony Hospital Unit, Harmony Garden Club and Harmony Women's Club, and was a founding member of the Harmony Golf Course Association and Photozatean Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, wood sculpting, jewelry making, needlework and reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Nina Van De Linde of Harmony and Callie A. Harmon of Chicago; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Two brothers preceded her in death.

A memorial service for Mildred F. Johnson was held March 3, 2001 at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, with the Rev. John Hagen officiating. The body was cremated. Burial was in Greenfield Cemetery. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
