Eldora C. Fairbairn, 84, of Preston, MN, died March 1, 2001, at the Preston Good Samaritan Center where she had resided since October 1999.

Eldora C. Driscoll was born August 17, 1916, to Daniel and Lena (Bollman) Driscoll in Preston. She attended area schools graduating from Preston High School in 1934. She married Ralph W. Fairbairn July 23, 1938, in Preston where the couple made their home. Eldora worked for the American Soil Conservation Service in Preston for a number of years. Ralph died August 22, 1993. Eldora was a member of St. Columban Catholic Church in Preston and the Catholic Council of Women. She was also a member of the Preston Saddle club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, music, and antiquing.

She is survived by four children, Barbara J.(Dale) Montang of Mason City, IA, Douglas J. (Peggy) Fairbairn of N. Olmsted, OH, James D. (Carol) Fairbairn of Preston, and E. Frances (Robert L.) Sauer of Preston; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Blakeslee of Spring Valley; 2 nieces; 2 nephews, and many long-time friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister.

The funeral Mass was held March 4, 2001 at St. Columban Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Loomis officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
