Ardene E. Erickson, 69, of Mabel died February 24, 2001 at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel where he had resided since 1990.

He was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Black Hammer to Arnold and Evelyn (Hermanson) Erickson. He attended area country schools. From 1952 to 1960, he served with the Army Signal Corps and achieved the rank of sergeant. Mr. Erickson had been employed as a farm laborer and carpenter and also worked for O.T. Spande Nursery, the telephone company and Donald Johnson Livestock. He was a member of American Legion Post 299 and the VFW.

Survivors include three brothers, Junnell, Larry and Dennis, all of Mabel; and three sisters, Marie Muller of Rapid City, S.D., Patricia Rollins of Mabel and Darla Mauer of Charles City, IA. Three brothers preceded him in death.

The funeral for Ardene E. Erickson was held February 28, 2001 at First Lutheran Church in Mabel, with the Revs. Allen Hermeier and Gene Hermeier co-officiating. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Grove, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 299 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
