Margaret S. Murray

Margaret S. Murray, 96, of St. Therese Home in Minneapolis, formerly of Preston, died March 1, 2001.

She was born April 12, 1904, in Duluth. She was a graduate of Girls' Cathedral High School in Duluth and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. In 1935, she married George O. Murray in St. Paul. Mrs. Murray taught kindergarten in Norway, Mich., St. Paul, and Preston, where the couple lived for 45 years. She was president of the Association for Childhood Education and in Preston was active in PTA and Band Mothers. She was Fillmore County chairwoman of the Red Cross Bloodmobile and a member of the Preston Library Board, Golf Club and Browning Study Club. She also was an active member of St. Columban's Catholic Church and the Ladies Circle, and was president of the Chatfield Deanery of the Winona Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include a son, William G. (Sue) of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a daughter, Kathleen (William) Pratt of Minnetonka, Minn.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband and three brothers preceded her in death.

A funeral Mass for Margaret S. Murray was held March 3, 2001 at the Church of St. Bartholomew in Wayzata, Minn. Burial will be in Norway, Mich.
