Sauerkraut Bread

Sauerkraut Bread

1 loaf frozen bread
1 can (27 oz.) sauerkraut, drained
1/4 cup minced onion
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 stick butter (1/2 cup)

Thaw bread, let rise until double. Roll out 1/4 in. thick on lightly floured board. Spread with soft butter. Prepare sauerkraut, combine with onion, pepper and 1/2 cup butter. Fry until slightly brown. Spread over dough, roll as for cinnamon rolls. Cut into three parts and place in greased 8x11 in. baking pan. Brush top with shortening. Let rise again until double. Bake 400 20-25 miutes or until nicely browned.
