Harry A. Jonsgaard, 92, of Rushford, a retired U.S. Steel employee, died Friday (March 9, 2001) at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

He was born in April 12, 1908, in Fremont Township, Winona County. On Nov. 24, 1928, he married Agnes Bailey. She died Dec. 1, 1994. Mr. Jonsgaard farmed for several years and then worked for U.S. Steel in Winona for many years until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Winona. He enjoyed fencing on the farm and fishing. After his mother's death, he helped rear his siblings.

Survivors include eight sons, Harris (Bernice), Marvin (Yvonne), Allen (Jean) and Wilbert (Patty), all of Lewiston, Harold (Anna), Curtis and Arvid (Patricia), all of Winona, and Eldon D. (Carolyn) of Rushford; more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy (Elnora) of Utica and Joe of Stockton; and two sisters, Seldie Bartelson and Teresa Meyer, both of Rushford. He was preceded in death by two daughters and several brothers and sisters.

The funeral for Harry A. Jonsgaard was held March 14, 2001 at Rushford Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Arendahl Lutheran Cemetery in rural Peterson. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
