A. Louis Hrabak, 79, of Chatfield, a retired music teacher, died Tuesday (March 20, 2001) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Born Sept. 2, 1921, in Pittsburgh, he grew up there and graduated from Carnegie-Mellon College in Pittsburgh. Mr. Hrabak taught band in the Stow-Rox School District in Pittsburgh before moving to the Rochester area in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield and the Rochester Model Railroad Club, and was a director of the Chatfield Brass Band. He had been living at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

Survivors include three daughters, Estelle Marie Hrabak (Dennis Matthews) of New Hampshire, and Claudia (Joseph) Lewandowski and Susan Louise (John) Vukson, both of Pittsburgh; a son, William Louis (Therese) of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Marie (John) Heim of Virginia. His wife and an infant brother preceded him in death.

A memorial service for A. Louis Hrabak was held March 23, 2001 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield with the Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Ranfranz Funeral Home in Rochester was in charge of arrangements.
