Earl E. Zalky, 67, of Ostrander, formerly of Wykoff, diedMarch 17, 2001 at Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis following a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1933, in Wykoff, he grew up there, graduated from Wykoff High School and served in the Marines from 1953 to 1956. On Dec. 28, 1968, he married Ethel Higgins Johnson at First Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. Mr. Zalky was a member of Spring Valley VFW Post 4114.

Survivors include his wife; four children from a previous marriage, Robin Zalky of Oklahoma City, Okla., Scott Zalky of St. Charles, and Steven Zalky and Randy Zalky, both of Rochester; five stepchildren, Debborah Cummings of Worthington, Minn., Brian (Sandy) Johnson of Lime Springs, Iowa, Pamela (Dave) Stevens of LeRoy, Steven (Abby) Johnson of Alexandria, Minn., and Lisa (Gary) McGinty of Greenbrier, Ark; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Ruthal) of Wykoff; and a sister, Donna (Gil) Albrecht of Wykoff. A brother preceded him in death.

A private memorial service with military rites for Earl E. Zalky will be held in the Wykoff Cemetery at a later date.
