Clark Gordon Miner

Clark Gordon Miner, 93, of Plano, Texas, and formerly of Mabel and Winona, Minn., died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Plano.

Clark was born Sept. 5, 1907, in Mabel, to James and Mary (Gordon) Miner. He attended Mabel schools and on June 16, 1928, he married Anna Bergsrud in Spring Grove, Minn. Clark farmed in the Mabel area and also drove school bus and worked for Darrington Feeds. In December 1944, he moved his family to Winona, Minn., where he worked for Winona Monument Co. and Valley Wholesalers. Anna later passed away on July 14, 1960. In 1964, Clark moved to California, where he was employed at Ceritos Junior College. On June 21, 1969, he married Addie Libby in Bellflower, Calif. He retired in 1974, and in 1998, he and Addie moved to Plano, Texas, where they have resided since. He was an active church member at Mabel United Methodist, McKinley Methodist in Winona, and currently at the Bellflower Methodist Church. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and was an avid sports fan and in later years took up golf, which he enjoyed immensely.

Clark is survived by his wife, Addie, of Plano; two daughters, Elaine Nesbitt of Hammond, Ind., and Ruth McManus of Winona; two sons, Jim (Ann) of Galesville and Tom (Penni) of Murrietta, Calif.; three stepsons, Roger Libby of Plano, Robert Libby of Auburn, Maine, and Preston Libby of Cappell, Texas; 10 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Morris (Evelyn) Bergsrud of Winona; and numerous nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna, his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held April 7, 2001, at the Mabel United Methodist Church in Mabel with the Rev. Phyllis Wilcox officiating. Burial was in the Mabel Public Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
