Caroline Meyer, 83, of Chatfield, a former farm homemaker, died April 7, 2001 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester where she had been a patient eight days.

Caroline Finley was born July 8, 1917, in rural Chatfield, graduated from Chatfield High School in 1934, and after attending a business college in Indiana returned to Chatfield. On Dec. 21, 1935, she married Elmer Meyer in St. Paul. They farmed in rural Chatfield, and after selling the farm lived in Winona for a few years before returning to Chatfield. Mr. Meyer died Aug. 15, 1995. She was employed at Waters Conley in Rochester for several years. Mrs. Meyer had resided at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield since August 1995. She enjoyed reading, horses, gardening, fishing and dancing.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Kay) of Mantorville and Randall (Ann) of rural Chatfield; three daughters, Donna Heim of Winona, Sandra Frazer of Preston and Joanne (Harry) Nevling of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Susie Wera of St. Paul. Six brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

he funeral for Caroline Meyer was held April 11, 2001 at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with the Rev. Eugene Larrabee of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatfield officiating. Spring burial will be in Chatfield Cemetery.
