To the Editor,

There are some bills coming out of this legislative session that would appropriate our tax money to two specific controversial animal-feedlot projects. This money is specifically targeted to cover the expense of court-ordered Environmental Impact Statements (EIS); that would be Hancock Pro-Pork in Pope County and Reiland Dairy proposal in Fillmore County.

Fillmore County Residents Concerned for Health sued the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) last year and won in district court with Judge Robert Bensonís decision in our favor. The decision meant that an EIS should have been ordered by the MPCA. If these bills pass, our tax money would be used for two specific feedlot projects in Minnesota that have the potential for significant risk.
