G. Oliver Loken, 86, of Rushford, a retired farmer, died Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

He was born March 22, 1915, in Canada. On Oct. 19, 1938, he married Lucille A. Pederson in Lanesboro and they farmed in the Houston, Hokah, Caledonia and Yucatan areas. In addition, he was custodian at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and worked in maintenance at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. He was a lifelong member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, which was formerly St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include five sons, Larry (Mary Ann Mohan) of Rushford, Roy (Dixie) of Rollingstone, Dennis (Cindy) of Mankato, Robert (Sue) of Dakota, Minn., and Jeffrey (Frieda) of Stewartville; 16 grandchildren; and two sisters, Amelia Stadtler of Caledonia and Eva Wright of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.

The funeral for Mr. Loken was held Friday, April 27, 2001, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with the Rev. Louise Stromberg officiating. Burial was in Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Hoff Funeral Home - Houston Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
