Robert D. Albrecht, 72, of rural Mabel, a retired farmer, died May 1, 2001 at his home following a long illness with cancer.

Robert was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois to John and Louise (Loss) Albrecht. On Oct. 22, 19, he married Betty Ann Goebbert in Elk Grove, Ill. They lived in Arlington Heights and Marengo,Ill., where they farmed and he also worked for Culligan. In 1977 they moved to the Burr Oak area and continued farming until their retirement in 1991. Mr. Albrecht was a member of Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda (Charles) McKee of Marengo; a son, Keith of Rochester; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernice Sternola of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Ruth Croft of Melrose Park, Ill. A sister and a brother preceded him in death.

The funeral for Robert D. Albrecht was held May 4, 2001 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Hans Floan officiating. Burial was in the Marengo, Ill., public cemetery. Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
