Vernon H. Vigeland

Vernon H. Vigeland, 77, of LaCrosse, Wis., formerly of Mabel, Minn. died March 12, 2001 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel where he had resided for only a week.

Vernon was born September 5, 1923 in Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minn., to Bennard and Inga (Hesby) Vigeland. He attended country school and was baptized at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel. He served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1953. He then resided in LaCrosse, Wisc., and worked for the Trane Company for 34 years until retiring in 1986. He enjoyed driving his car on trips to the casino, sight seeing, fishing, and visits to Mabel.

Survivors include a niece Arlene (Darrell) Sinclair of Rochester; two nephews Arnold Vigeland of Prosper, Minn., and Richard Vigeland of Mabel; and a sister-in-law Irene Vigeland of Mabel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arden.

Funeral services were held March 15, 2001 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel with the Reverend Mary Waudby officiating. Burial was in the Scheie Lutheran Cemetery. Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
