Lillian L. Schmidt, 61, of rural Wykoff, died of cancer May 18, 2001 at her home.

Lillian Jech was born May 11, 1940, in Grand Meadow, the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Boehm) Jech. She grew up in the Grand Meadow area and later moved to Rochester. While in Rochester, she worked at Saint Marys Hospital until her marriage to Harlan L. Schmidt on June 14, 1958, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Wykoff. Mrs. Schmidt was a homemaker and worked at Bolles Orchard in rural Wykoff. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and was active in the church circles. She enjoyed traveling and was a craft show enthusiast.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Darvin (Maureen) and Jim (Sheri), both of rural Wykoff; three daughters, Lori (Pat) Weisinger of Wykoff, Barb (Greg) Mulhern of rural Fountain, and Leslie Schmidt of Stewartville; eight grandchildren; five brothers, Clarence Jech of Elgin, Albert Jech and Kenneth Jech of Rochester, and Robert (Donna) Jech and Loren (Mary) Jech of Chatfield; and two sisters, Edna Farmer of Rochester and Leona (Willie) Cambern of Fountain. One grandson and one sister preceded her in death.

The funeral for Lillian L. Schmidt was May 21, 2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff with the Rev. Jerry Crow officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Thauwald Funeral Home in Wykoff was in charge of arrangements.
