Annabelle Kvam What are some of your fondest memories? I have so many, living on a farm was the best teacher or friend one could ask for. One memory was getting up early, putting on rubbers, and hiking out to the cow pasture and bringing in the cows for morning milking. Sometimes I thought of it as an awful job and then again as I walked down the cow lane and heard the birds sing, see the cows laying down and the sun coming up. What a memory that is.

Driving along a country road, a seed corn salesman spotted a farmer slowly cultivating his corn with an old mule. The salesman stopped his car, leaned over the fence at the end of the field and tried to sell the farmer some seed corn for the next year. “Your corn looks sorta yellow,” the salesman told the farmer. “I know, “ the farmer said. “I planted yellow corn.” “Well,” the salesman persisted, “it looks like you only got half a crop.” “I know.” the farmer said. “I only farm for half.” Exasperated, the salesman said. “Seems to me there isn’t much separating you from a fool!” “I know,” the farmer replied, “just this fence.

Some days it’s hard to tell whether you’re as busy as you think your are or just confused.

You know you’re getting old, if your toupee turns gray.

The best way to enjoy summer is to turn the air-conditioner on and the TV set off.

Don’t laugh at the coffee. You too may be old and weak some day.

I used to dance the night away,
Convulsing with each beat.
Now I long the whole day through,
To just get off my feet.

Spicing up the Yard
- Spices aren’t just for the kitchen! I use them as a repellent in my yard and garden.
- To repel ants, sprinkle garlic powder around the house and on ant hills.
- Sprinkle powdered ginger around plants to repel snails and slugs.
- Ginger also stops cats from digging in the soil in your flower beds and gardens.

Remember
This is the day to be especially grateful. Take time to make a list of individuals who have enriched and blessed your life. Count your many blessings and be thankful. The stars are in your favor. Today will be a good day. People like you - you like people. Be kinder to everyone, and your day will be enriched.

A while ago we had to fight
To get him near the sink.
He hated baths as much as though,
The water made him shrink.
But things have changed since he’s fifteen,
It now would take the power
Of a team of 12 Clydesdales,
To pry him from the shower.
