Nelda Frogner, 93, of Harmony, died June 7, 2001 at Harmony Healthcare after being a dialysis patient for over 4 years.

Nelda Achatz was born April 22, 1908, in Harmony, the daughter of Frederick and Emma (Wertman) Achatz. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1926. She also attended Winona Business College where she graduated in 1928. Her first job was with the Stevenson Coal Co. of Winona. During the summer of 1930 Nelda worked for the Haynes Picture Shop in Yellowstone National Park. From 1930 to 1934, she worked for Carlton College, the employment Office for Fillmore County, Thompson Abstract Co., and the Fillmore County “Corn/Hog” office of the Dept. of Agriculture. In 1934 she worked as the clerk of Probate Court for Fillmore Co. On Sept. 10, 1940 she married George E. Frogner, an attorney in Harmony, and worked for him as his full-time legal secretary for several years. In 1943, Nelda lived in Monmouth, Oregon, and worked for the Post Exchange at Camp Adair while George was training with the 77th Army Division. After WWII, Nelda and George live in Harmony. Nelda participated in a wide range of community groups and charities. She was a founding and lifelong member of the Harmony Community Chest, serving as treasurer for many years. Nelda and George were also founding members of and active participants in the Harmony Golf Club. Nelda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 54 years. From 1941 to 1999, she was an active member of the Photozetean (Seekers of Light) book club. For 12 years, she served on the Harmony Library Board where she was Vice Chairman for 10 years. She was also a member of the Harmony Hospital Unit No.5, the Harmony Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, and a Zumbro Valley Mental Health Advisory Committee. She was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church of Harmony, where she belonged to the Charity Circle.

Survivors include two sons, Fred of Minneapolis and Bill (Linda) of Lino Lakes, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband.

The funeral was held on June 11, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Harmony, with the Rev. David Laechel officiating. Burial was at the State Line Cemetery in rural Harmony. Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
