Esther A. Brueggeman, 87, of Wykoff, a former farm homemaker, died June 10, 2001 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Esther A. Meyer was born June 26, 1913, in Austin. the daughter of William and Dora (Niemeyer) Meyer. She grew up in the Fountain area. On Sept. 15, 1936, she married Bernie A. Brueggeman at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wykoff. They farmed in the Wykoff area until 1968 when they retired and moved into Wykoff, and she provided child care. Her husband died May 13. Mrs. Brueggeman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff and Wykoff Senior Citizens, and enjoyed crafts, crocheting and fishing.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (Elton) Sikkink of Wykoff, Joyce (Jack) Deyo of Tripoli, Iowa, and Marlene (Jim Clouse) Kasten of Garden Valley, Idaho; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Schumacher of Wykoff. A brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

The funeral was held June 14, 2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jerry Crow officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Thauwald Funeral Home in Wykoff was in charge of arrangements.
