I must say that I became very confused while reading “In The Mail” this past Monday. I became confused while reading the letter to the Editor submitted by Mr. Kramer. It amazes me that people can become so upset at a newspaper for reporting the news. Mr. Torgrimson did not hire nor did he fail to renew Mr. Voigt’s contract. He simply reported both sides of the story, which in my opinion is fair reporting which we seldom see.

The Journal, as pointed out is a county paper which reports information about Fillmore County. I for one do not want to read bowling scores or scores of any sports for that matter in the county paper. I look to my local paper to keep me up to date on that stuff. Besides which towns’ softball league or bowling league takes priority. And at school time we would only be reading a sports paper if we reported on all of Fillmore County’s schools sports every week.

Now for the part that confused me. For someone that obviously does not like the Journal, it’s stories, editor or format, Mr. Kramer knows an awful lot about what is and is not in the Journal which indicates he is an avid reader. So for all it’s flaws, as pointed out by Mr. Kramer, the Journal still captivates its audience.

I for one enjoy reading about the history of this county and I love the old stories about the people that came before me. And I hope there will always be a paper that will print the kind of historical short stories the Journal chooses to share with us. And as for the commissioners, I suppose they’ll continue to keep us guessing. I look forward to receiving my mail every Monday because that is the one day I know that I will be getting something I will enjoy. Nothing like a fresh cup of coffee and a good read.

John, thank you for continuing to dish out a great paper that gives us all something to talk about.

Thank you to all the wonderful people who shared their treasured quilts at Lanesboro’s Art in the Park. It was a beautiful display and added much to the festival. We appreciate your willingness to participate.
