Emma A. Swor, 94, of Rochester, formerly of Chatfield and Duluth, died June 18, 2001 at her home.

Emma Ann Schackor was born Jan. 1, 1907, in Silva, N.D. On Aug. 4, 1926, she married Samuel E. Swor at her parents' home in Silva and they made their home in Duluth. She was a homemaker and also a nurses' aide at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth until her retirement in 1972. She lived in Chatfield from 1990 until moving to Rochester on June 8, 2001. Mrs. Swor was a member of Chatfield Lutheran Church and its Mary/Deborah Circle, and in Duluth was a member of First Lutheran Church, was active in the Harriet and Zenith chapters of the Eastern Star and served as worthy matron. She participated in Meals on Wheels and Senior Volunteers, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo, traveling and cooking.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Wallace) Fortier of Chatfield and Donna (Lester) Snodgrass of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three sons, Lyle (Elaine) of Fargo, N.D., Ronald (Linda) of Kennesaw, Ga., and Terry (Jill) of Shoreview, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a sister, Rose (Harold) Spangsrud of Brooklyn Center, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and five brothers.

The funeral was held June 22, 2001 at First Lutheran Church in Duluth. Burial was in Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
