Eugene R. Haling, 73, of Chatfield, died of cardiac arrest June 14, 2001 at his home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Rochester. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1946 and from the University of Minnesota in 1952. On June 16, 1951, he married Betty Smith in Rochester. Mr. Haling lived in Rochester, Eden Prairie, Minn., Midland, Mich., and since 1974, in Chatfield. He was employed in sales for Dow Chemical Co. and Nalco Chemical Co. and later owned and operated Skrukrud Implement Co. in Chatfield. He purchased Haling Ring Co. in Rochester from his father. He retired in 1992.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Chatfield; two daughters, Karyn Kujawa of Minneapolis and Peggy (Mark) Zurfluh of Holmen, Wis.; two grandsons; a brother, William (Kay) of Eagle River, Wis.; and a sister, Eunice Abresch of Kenosha, Wis. A sister preceded him in death.

The funeral was held June 18, 2001 at Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Chatfield, with the Rev. Timothy J. Gerarden officiating. Burial was in Chatfield Cemetery. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
