Mark Allen Weber, 27, from Cedar Falls, Iowa, appeared before Judge James A. Fabian in District Court on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, facing three counts involving fleeing a peace officer, reckless driving and speeding. If convicted on all three counts, Weber could face a maximum penalty of three years and one day in prison, 90 days in jail, and fines totaling $7,000.00. On October 17, Officer Cody Bellock was on patrol for the city of Rushford when he observed three motorcycles traveling westbound on Highway 16. The lead cyclist pulled the front wheel off the ground and accelerated his speed while riding a wheelie. At that point, Officer Bellock pursued the three motorcycles with both his emergency lights and siren activated. Two of the cyclists pulled over but the lead motorcycle continued at alleged speeds clocked by officer Bellock in excess of 100 mph. During this chase Bellock also reported the driver allegedly passing in clearly marked "no passing" zones. He continued to follow the cyclist until he reached Lanesboro where he finally stopped. Officer Bellock approached the driver who identified himself as Mark Allen Weber. He was taken into custody and transported to the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department for further questioning. Judge Fabian set unconditional bail at $10,000. Weber's next court appearance is November 4, 2010.
