Norman James Tabor, 82, of Fair Oaks, Calif., formerly of Spring Valley, died June 25, 2001, at Kaiser Medical Center in Roseville, Calif., of complications of pneumonia.

Born Oct. 12, 1918, in rural Spring Valley, he graduated from Spring Valley High School and worked on the family farm near Spring Valley until moving into town with his family in 1934. He took a general farming course at the University School of Agriculture in 1936 and 1938. Mr. Tabor worked part time for area farmers and local businesses, and when his mother's health declined, he was her caretaker until she died in 1989. Mr. Tabor lived in Spring Valley until 1999, when he moved to Fair Oaks to live with his sister, Vera Ballard of Fair Oaks. He enjoyed gardening.

The funeral for Norman James Tabor was held July 5, 2001 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Dennis Timmerman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
