Fillmore Central School Foundation seeks board members

Fillmore Central Schools will be working with the Preston Area Foundation on establishing a school foundation. We are looking for a founding group to develop a plan to organize and launch the school foundation. The group will be considered the board of directors and will be made up of people who are committed to the school and area and understand its needs and opportunities.

The Fillmore Central Community Education Advisory Board is currently serving as the board of directors until one can be established. They have created an initial vision and purpose of the school foundation.

Vision: To channel educational donations toward school initiatives that will build stronger programs and academics for our children.

Why Develop a School Foundation?

• Public dollars are becoming scarce, so we need to be creative on how to generate dollars to support our school.

• Stronger schools lead to stronger communities.

• We want our school to continue to grow and be viable, and additional dollars to support growth and new ideas is needed for that to happen.

• We want to have funds available for scholarships for families in need, so all families and children have equal access to experiences. Examples: extra curricula fees, school readiness tuition, milk and meal money.

• Extra money will help prevent loss of programs.

• A foundation will invest in resources to support educational endeavors - technology, library resources, arts, music, etc...

• A foundation gives potential donors the opportunity to invest dollars that will add value to the community and members, and clear vision of how those dollars will be spent.

We invite all individuals to apply to be part of this groundbreaking school foundation board of directors. The board of directors will develop a plan to organize and launch the school foundation. Applications are available via the Fillmore Central School website or by contacting Holly Kanengieter, Community Education Director: www.fillmorecentral.k12.mn.us or 507-765-3809 or holly.kanengieter@isd2198.k12.mn.us
