Gerda A. Redalen, 84, of Chatfield, died July 6, 2001 en route to St. Marys Hospital.

Gerda Flaby was born Dec. 12, 1916, in rural Lanesboro. She graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1934. She married Tracy Redalen on June 27, 1943, in rural Lanesboro. He died on Dec. 15, 1997. After their marriage, the couple moved to the Root Prairie area east of Fountain. She moved to Chatfield in 1998. She was a homemaker. She played the church organ at Union Prairie Lutheran Church for eight years and was the organist for Root Prairie Lutheran Church for 47 years. She was a member of the Root Prairie Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. She also had been a parent leader of the Pilot Mount 4-H.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Allan) Carlson of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Susan (Steven) Amundson of Hastings; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.

The funeral was held July 10, 2001 at Root Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Fountain, with the Rev. Curtis Fox officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
