APPLETON, Wis. (October 13, 2010) - Good Earth Village, 25303 Old Town Dr., Spring Valley, MN, recently received a $77,000 grant from the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The grant will help Good Earth Village reach a wider and more diverse audience throughout southeastern Minnesota by increasing public awareness and visibility of the ministry through its marketing and publicity efforts.

"We're trying to strengthen and grow the ministry that we're doing in southeastern Minnesota. I believe that Good Earth Village has a lot to offer our community, and this support from Thrivent Financial will help us to move our ministry and our organization forward by reaching more people. It will allow us to improve our visibility and get our message into the community in ways that have been out of our reach before," said Chad Campbell, executive director, Good Earth Village.

"We are delighted to assist Good Earth Village through this grant, said Tim Schwan, vice president of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. "We trust that this support will strengthen Good Earth Village's ministry to those it serves."

The grant is part of the foundation's Lutheran Grant Program. This program is designed to help Lutheran institutions and organizations take advantage of unique growth and service opportunities. It also supports the interests and needs of the Lutheran community. In 2009, the program distributed approximately $2.3 million through 61 separate grants.

Eligible grant applicants include: Lutheran congregations, regional divisions of the three largest church bodies, small church bodies, high schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, camps, campus ministries, social ministry organizations and other independent Lutheran organizations or institutions.

Good Earth Village was founded in 1970 by a small group of churches in southeastern Minnesota. With 500 acres of beautiful bluff lands, a meandering trout stream, steep cliffs, valleys, and caves, Good Earth Village is situated in one of the most beautiful and ecologically unique locations in the state of Minnesota. Over the years, the camp has developed its programming around faith formation, personal growth, community building, and leadership development in children and youth. More recently, an emphasis on intergenerational programming, and programming for adults has grown out of the construction of a high-comfort retreat center.

Now made up of 146 member churches and supported by thousands of donors, Good Earth Village serves thousands of people annually with retreat and camp ministries. To learn more about Good Earth Village's facilities or programs, visit www.GoodEarthVillage.org.
