Marian Rita Applen, 68, of Rochester, died Friday (July 20, 2001) near Las Vegas, Nev. due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born to George and Mary (Schlieimer) Mohrhauser, on November 2, 1932, in Battle Creek, Ia. She worked for Amway for the past forty years and had been employed at Adamson Motors in Rochester for the past several years. She was a member of Pax Christi Church in Rochester. She was also a member of many dance troops including; tap, clogging, square, round, and Polish hop polka dancing. She was also involved with the Kitchen Band in Rochester and Beginning Experiences and volunteered for various Alzheimers Association activities. She enjoyed camping, reading and physical activities.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Mohrhauser of Cresco, Ia., four children; Steven Applen of Coon Rapids; Sharon Applen-Kaaya of Minneapolis, Sandy (Glen) Albert of Brooklyn Park; and Scott (Jamie) Applen of Olathe, Kas.; one grandson, Michael Applen; three sisters, Darlene Perry of Cresco, Beverly (Norbert) Wilson of Atwater, Calf., and Joan Werett of Cresco; one brother, Wayne (Dawn) Mohrhauser of Rochester, Lauren Applen of Granger, Duaine Jacobsen of Albert Lea, and John (Megan) MacLeod. She was preceded in death by her father.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Applen was held Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Pax Christi Church in Rochester with Father Patrick Arens officiating.
