WASHINGTON - On Friday, November 5, at 12:30 p.m. officials from HHS' Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight will hold a press conference call to discuss new choices that will be available in federally-administered Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan in 2011.

The Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan, made possible by the Affordable Care Act, provides uninsured Americans living with such conditions as cancer, diabetes, or heart disease the opportunity to obtain insurance coverage. The program covers a broad range of health benefits and is designed as a bridge to 2014, when all Americans - regardless of their health status - will have access to affordable coverage either through their employer or through a new competitive marketplace, and insurers will be prohibited from denying coverage to anyone based on the state of their health.

Richard Popper, Director for the Office of Insurance Programs in HHS' Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight

WHEN: Friday, November 5, at 12:30 p.m. (EDT)
