Guess we have done it again as our chicken dinner at our church was good, plus the weather was great. We had a very nice crowd and to my surprise people from all over, came even a couple from “Walnut Grove,” MN. Yes, it’s hard work, but everybody from our church turn out to help. I will admit, I sure get tired, but for one day I can endure the arching legs and feet. I wish I could “thank” everyone personally, but all I can do is say thanks to everyone who came. The weather was great and the chicken was too.

A couple of fellows paid a high price for a bird dog and took him out for a field test. After an hour, one said in disgust, “This dog is no good, I think we got took!” “Well,” said his unsure friend, “We’ll give him another chance, lets throw him in the air one more time and if he doesn’t fly this time, we’ll put him to sleep.”

Said one fellow: “I was once in love with a twin,” asked the other: “Didn’t you ever kiss the wrong one by mistake?” “Oh, no,” was the reply, “Her brother had a mustache.”

Mr. Smith is so tight he is completely out of debt!

A man begins cutting his wisdom teeth the first time he bites off more than he can chew.

Some people display a lot of unexpected talent when it come to acting like a fool.

Puppy love is dangerous because it often leads to a dog’s life.

Daybreak
The bed feels so cozy
The day is so dark!
My will power is down
To the tiniest spark.

Potatoes
Potatoes have been in the world a long time. The Incas, Aztecs and Mayans were using them when the Europeans arrived. The potato is one of the most important things in our diet. The average American consumes one potato a day, and do you know in what forms? French fries, potato chips, mashed, au gratin, creamed, fried, potato pancakes and soup, and lets not forget Lefse.

Nose Woes
While in my garden yesterday
A delicious aroma
came my way,
Across the road,
my neighbor Bill
Had chicken and corn
out on the grill.
Today a change in
wind direction.
Again brings scents
to my detection.
This smell is different
from before . . .
It’s from the hog-farm
next door.
. . . . .
Weather
Crickets singing in the house tell of a long cold winter.
. . . . .
Rolling Thunder in the fall, means a hard winter.
. . . . .

Zucchini Pie
4 cups peeled, seeded, sliced, cooked and drained Zucchini
1 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
dash of salt
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
dash of nutmeg
1 1/4 cups sugar 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons margarine 1 unbaked pie shell
Topping:
1 stick margarine 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup flour
Combine all ingredients (but topping) and put in unbaked pie shell. For topping, combine margarine, sugar and flour. Crumble and sprinkle over pie. Bake 350°, 45-50 minutes.
