Local lineworkers travel to northern Wisconsin to help restore power

Rushford, MN (1:30 p.m. Oct. 27, 2010)- Lineworkers from Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TEC) left at 12:30 p.m. today to assist Bayfield Electric Cooperative in restoring power due to outages caused by last night's high winds.
Bayfield has about 1,900 miles of line serving 9,000 members.
TEC lineworkers Brian Bauer, Tyler Eide and Andy Prinsen, all of Rushford, and Tim Anderson, of Lanesboro, volunteered to travel to Iron River, Wis. where about half of Bayfield's members are without power.
Electric cooperatives have a history of assisting each other during times of need.
"You never know when Mother Nature may hit your system," says Brian Krambeer, TEC's president/CEO. "It's nice to know that when you are faced with a disaster that you are not alone and that help will be on the way."
Krambeer says it's not just the lineworkers that are committed, but their families too.
"When a spouse is gone for an extended amount of time their family feels the absence. It is a commitment by our lineworkers and their families when we respond to these situations," Krambeer says.
The crew plans to return in about four to five days.
Tri-County Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative serving three counties in Minnesota including Winona, Houston and Fillmore and parts of Olmsted and Mower counties in Minnesota and Howard, Winneshiek and Allamakee counties in Iowa. It provides electricity to more than 12,800 services in the area. TEC is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
