Thanks to much community and regional support, the Lanesboro Arts Center's annual 'Swingsation' gala fundraiser was a success, raising $29,000+ for Lanesboro Arts Center programming. Contributing to the success of this event was a wide variety of volunteers, from Lanesboro high school students to area farmers, senior citizens to local business owners, Lanesboro newcomers and locals to television news anchors. Auction donors and event attendees also ensured the fundraiser's success, through donating and/or bidding on original artwork and unique items-some of which were auctioned live by Lanesboro Sales Commission auctioneer Mert Boyum, with help from KTTC's Jess Abrahamson & Tom Overlie, and Commonweal Theatre Company's Sarah Hawkins & Irene ErkenBrack. The gala evening featured appetizers and a dinner catered by Karen Connelly, drinks by the Parkway Pub, and music by a jazz quintet put together by Dave O'Mara. Event sponsors included KTTC Television, F&M Community Bank, Preble Farmers Mutual Fire Ins. Co., Associated Bank, Poet Biorefining, and Ameriprise Financial. Board Chair Dick Haight commented, "The show of support by sponsors, item donors, volunteers and attendees was a tribute to the arts programming that we provide to the region."

Proceeds from the event benefit the year-round programming of the Lanesboro Arts Center, serving as a regional catalyst for artistic excellence and educational development in providing diverse art experiences for people of all ages. In the heart of historic downtown Lanesboro, Lanesboro Arts Center houses two galleries featuring work by more than 80 regional artists. Programming also includes the annual Father's Day Art in the Park celebration; the Lanesboro Residency program (bringing 2-4 artists to Lanesboro each year); the Picture Parade elementary school education program; classes and Kids Create! Family Art Projects; and literary, music, theater, and film events at the St. Mane Theatre. For more information about the Lanesboro Arts Center, visit www.lanesboroarts.org.
