As we all know, Thanksgiving was this past week. This means we gathered with our families and talked about the past year and maybe even talked about what's coming up this coming year. But, the day after Thanksgiving seemed like the day when everyone was out and about, but they weren't going to a family gathering. Instead they were at the local mall or at any other major store because it was Black Friday!
Everyone has heard the expression "shop till you drop." Well, Friday was the day to do just that. With big time stores having HUGE sales, people were taking the advantage to get ahead on their Christmas shopping, but the best part is that they saved money. Sounds great, right? Well, like everything else Black Friday does have some flaws. Like I said before, everyone was out, which means stores were packed with people. In summary, it was just a crazy day. Some people probably went the extra mile and spent the night in a store parking lot, just to be the first ones in.
This is one of the main reasons why I try to avoid Black Friday. I think I have only gone shopping maybe twice on this day, and that was just to pick up a quick thing. I remember the store was packed with everyone pushing to get what they wanted, and it was just hectic to get my shopping done. To make it even more "fun," we had to wait in the check-out line for what seemed like hours. That's when I realized that shopping on Black Friday wasn't for me. So, I don't think I will be doing any more shopping on that Friday because to me it is just a headache. I did, however, have some family members and friends that looked forward to Friday, and all I could think of was that they were crazy. But, if they enjoy it, that's all that matters. They were looking through store catalogs and advertisements picking out what they were going to get, and I am not going to lie. There was stuff that I wanted, too, but I wouldn't choose Friday to go get it.
So, Black Friday isn't for some people, but to others it's the day that can't come soon enough. To those of you that went out on Friday, I hope you got everything you were looking for, but mostly I hope you had fun!
