Burros battled at State Finals

In their first appearance at this level, the Lanesboro Burros took on the Cromwell Cardinals in the Minnesota State High School Football 9-Man State Championship game on Friday, November 26, with both teams throwing a flurry of offensive punches to rack up a final score of 49-42. While the Burros trailed by 14 points nearly the entire game, countering the Cardinal's touchdowns with one of their own throughout the entire game, a fourth quarter on-side kick was retained by the Burros -- leading to a touchdown and a perfectly executed 2-point conversion. Their next on-side kick favored the Cardinals, giving them possession to control the clock and close out the game to prevent the Burros from scoring one more touchdown that would have tied up the game.
