If you haven't been to Wheelers Bar & Grill and Roller Rink in Harmony, Minn., you are missing out on some awesome food. On a recent Thursday night edition of assembling the page layout of the Journal, along with my brother-in-law Jerry Enright, Tyler Grundman and Alissa Shannon, we made a quick trip to Harmony for a bite to eat at the first stop as you come into town.
As I ordered up a Wheelers Burger loaded with everything that makes America hearty, the waitress asked me what type of fries I would like along with my burger. Her last offering was intriging to me -- beer batter-fried french fries. I had never heard of them, but they sounded interesting. So, I was a little daring and ordered up a surprise.
When the food arrived, I indulged in the burger which was absolutely delicious -- especially with their Secret Sauce (referenced on the menu accordingly). If you haven't had the Wheelers Burger, you need to roll on over to Harmony.
Regarding the surprise fries, these were phenomenal. Seriously, I haven't enjoyed french fries like that in a long time. There was a certain sweetness to them that I can't quite describe. Without a doubt, my return to Wheelers Bar & Grill will involve another order of beer batter-fried french fries.
OK, so they may not sound too healthy, but that's why I exercise -- so I can eat what I want.
Along with the good food, there was a healthy crowd of people engaged in conversation. I think we solved world hunger, but I can't remember. I hope someone took notes.
Wheelers Bar & Grill and Roller Rink definitely has a good thing going for people who enjoy food, conversation and entertainment.
I haven't roller-skated in a long time, but I did peek in the back room behind Wheelers restaurant area. I may have to bring my wife and children back for a trip down memory lane. My children haven't been to a roller rink, yet.
For anyone interested in learning more about all that Wheelers Bar & Grill has to offer, their phone number is 507-886-4444, or just stop by on your way into town.
I feel fortunate to live in an area where we have absolutely no corporate-owned restaurants. Every restaurant in our area is family owned and operated. Every dining establishment in the area provides something unique from the ambiance to the tasty bites that keep us coming back for more. We have a great selection of restaurants right here in our own backyard, and I plan on sharing my dining experiences from one town to the next.
Look for this feature every week in the Fillmore County Journal, along with online under the Real Bites section.
