In an effort to encourage Minnesotans to get vaccinated against influenza, Fillmore County Public Health will be holding flu clinics as part of the statewide Ban the Bug Campaign (December 5-11, 2010). Ban the Bug Influenza Vaccination Clinics will be held at the following locations:

· December 6 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Fillmore County Office Building located at 902 Houston Street NW, Preston MN.

· December 9 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Wykoff City Hall located at 217 North Gold Street, Wykoff, MN.

· December 9 by appointment only at the Fillmore County Office Building located at 902 Houston Street NW, Preston MN.

"It is not too late to get a flu immunization," said Lantha Stevens, Fillmore County Public Health Director, "The Ban the Bug Campaign seeks to remind people that there is still time to protect themselves against influenza."

Influenza vaccinations are recommended for all Minnesotans over age six months, but they are especially important for young children six months to four years old, seniors, people of any age with chronic medical conditions, pregnant women, people living with or caring for those at high risk for complications from influenza, and healthcare workers.

The cost of the flu vaccination is $25.00 each. Adults with Medicare Part B or children under age 18 on MnCare or Medical Assistance can receive the flu vaccination free of charge if their insurance cards are presented at the clinic.
