The 2011 Winter Crops Day will be held at the Good Times Restaurant in Caledonia on Wednesday, January 12th. Registration begins at 8:30 with the program beginning with the Crop Year Review at 9:00 am. The most current material related to cropping in southeast Minnesota will be discussed.

The topics to be covered during the day include: Weed Management Research Results, Sudden Death Syndrome & Other Soybean Diseases, Alfalfa Variety Management, Nitrogen Management in High Yield Alfalfa-Corn Cropping Systems, and Zinc and Sulphur Fertilization of Corn & Fertilizer Placement Issues. The presenters will include Jeff Coulter, UM Agronomy & Plant Genetics; Satish Gupta, UM Soil, Water, Climate; Tom Hoverstad, UM SROC-Waseca; Dan Kaiser, UM Soil, Water, Climate; Dean Malvick, UM Plant Pathology; Paul Peterson, UM Agronomy & Plant Genetics; Michael Russelle, USDA-ARS & UM Soil, Water, Climate; and Jeff Vetsch, UM SROC.

The Good Times Restaurant in Caledonia is located at 118 Bissen Street. From Hwy 44/76 turn east on Old Hwy. Drive, Bissen Street is one block off the highway at the top of the hill.

There is a $30 registration fee which includes handout materials, refreshments and lunch. CEUs for certified crop advisers have been applied for.
