For a while Thursday night, the Falcon boys were game. In the first nine minutes of action, they led the #4 ranked team in Class 2A. And though Caledonia found its way back in front, the Falcons weren't done. On the backside of a technical foul by Warrior coach Josh Diersen, the Warrior lead was cut to one. The half ended with a mini-run by Caledonia. Fillmore trailed 37-31 at the break.
Then the bottom dropped out. Caledonia assumed control. Their presses exerted their effects on the Falcons. The Warrior lead ballooned to double figures, where it remained. And then there was the exclamation point. After a mid-court steal, the ball was forwarded ahead to 6'5" senior center Justin Felton. In one fail-swoop, he snagged the pass, took a step, and exploded for a rim rocking, Caledonia-fan inspiring, two-hand slam-dunk. And that was that.
Jordan Ristau led Fillmore in scoring with 13 points off the bench. Zachary Olstad and James Skaalen also reached double figures with 11 and 10 respectively. For Caledonia, aside from Felton's slam, it was the Josh Gran-Mitch Reiser show. Each finished with 23.
