Tom Vix's club improved its record to 6-0 with two regular season, holiday break, victories over Spring Grove (62-50) and a La Crescent (55-51). Against the Lions, an R-P signature thus far this season, the three-point shot, didn't fall. Bombers Nick Thompson, Trent Vix and Ben Krambeer were a combined 4-18 from distance. But the team's two point shots rarely missed. The Trojans were 24 of 31 from inside the arc as a team, led by senior forward Nic Duneman who was a perfect 8 of 8 for 16 points. Thompson also had 16. Junior guard Trent Vix had 12 points, 6 assists, and 9 steals. Spring Grove's Aric Elton led all scorers with 21.
Two days later, the La Crescent Lancers visited Rushford. The Trojans found another way to win: from the free throw line. R-P knocked down 23 of 35 freebies to La Crescent's 11 of 17, numbers that proved to be the difference in a closely contested 4-point game. Thompson and Vix were particularly potent from the charity stripe, going a combined 16 of 19. Thompson netted 12, grabbed 7, blocked 3, and stole 4. Vix twined 16, grabbed 5, and dealt 3. Senior guard Ben Krambeer led the Trojans in scoring with 19.
