The Lanesboro and Mabel-Canton girls dueled it out Thursday the 6th in a SEC conference showdown. Early on, it looked like Lanesboro would run away with it. They jumped out 9-1. But the Cougars responded, eventually taking a 27-24 lead into the half. In the second stanza, it was back and forth right up until Burro sophomore Alisa Warnes applied herself. Entering the game with only 6 points on the season, she scored 10 points in a four-minute span. That span, was the stretch run of the game, 5:50-2:02. Her performance nearly single-handedly turned a 42-42 tie, into a 54-48 Burro lead. All told, she scored 14 points (on 7-9 shooting), all in the second half, helping lead Lanesboro to a 60-51 victory. Paige Hungerholt and Bryn Harmon aided the home team's cause with 18 and 13. Belle Sand and Kayla Rasmussen paced M-C with 11 apiece.
