The Fillmore Central girls, winners of six consecutive games, looked to make it seven against Wabasha-Kellogg in Harmony. Unlike their previous four contests, the FC Falcons didn't trample their opponent in the first 18 minutes of play. W-K kept the ball out of Connor Nagle's hands; she scored only 4 first half points. They got the ball to 6'1" senior forward Nicole Alexander; she scored 11. At the intermission, things were knotted at 22. Out of the second half gate, the winning streak hung precariously after Alexander alone engineered a 7-2 W-K Falcon run that gave her squad a 29-24 lead. But then the FC Falcons went on an offensive spurt parallel to those that built so many early leads over the past couple weeks. In a 1:21 span, they reeled off 8 unanswered to take the lead (32-29). Three minutes and forty-seven seconds later, W-K still hadn't responded and the FC run was up to 19-0 (43-31). That was all it took. Fillmore coasted to a 50-38 victory, their seventh in a row. Limited in the first, Nagle got enough opportunities in the second to lead Fillmore with 16 points. Nashia Soland netted 13. Alexander was W-K's offense. She scored 23 of her teams 38 points. There was a lid over the hoop from deep. Wabasha was 2-20 and the Falcons 0-9 from the land of plenty. Next up for 2nd place Fillmore is 1st place Caledonia. In an earlier meeting, the Warriors prevailed by 30.
