The Preston Area Community Foundation is holding a fifth annual dinner/celebration on March 28 at the Branding Iron. Tickets can be purchased from a director of the foundation, F & M Community Bank or at Weber & Judd Pharmacy in Preston. The deadline for purchasing tickets is March 21.

A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner and program to follow at 6:30. There will be both a silent and live auction for such items as Gopher/Nebraska football tickets, a wine tasting event, autographed Minnesota Twins baseball and many more items.

The keynote speaker is Larry Anderson who is a financial services officer specializing in business development. He is active in his church as well as a number of community organizations and the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. Larry is a frequent speaker and emcee at rural community events. The theme for his remarks will be "Good Things Happen When Good People Work Together."

The Preston Area Community Foundation is celebrating its 14th year in 2011. Since it began in 1997, 40 individuals have served on the board of directors and 35 grants totaling $166,940 have been awarded to various non-profit and/or governmental units in the greater Preston area. In 2010, monies were granted to the city of Preston for the National Trout Learning Center and for the "Equal Play - Accessible Playground" project.
