Today my column is dedicated to the gentle man whose body was found Saturday evening Sept. 21st in a ditch just north or Prosper. Isn't it terrible we wait till someone is dead before we can say something good about them. Kris Olson director of Sunrise Center in Spring Grove wrote such nice things about this man and how beautiful he could paint and like she said, "he could look at something completely average and see beauty." Wouldn't it have been nice if we could of known him before and helped him with his pain and also his addiction. The old saying, "there's good in everybody if we just look around and see it." Thanks, Kris for telling us of Michael's life and the help your Sunrise Recovery Center gave him.

A woman went to the post office to buy stamps to mail her daughter's wedding invitations. "I'd like 200 stamps please," she told the clerk. "What denomination?" the clerk asked. "Oh, dear," the woman said. "I suppose it would be best to split them. Give me 100 Baptist and 100 Presbyterian."

I still think it would be wonderful if we could bring back horse sense without bringing back the horse.

Why is it you never hear of a man marrying a woman to reform her.

Marriage is a covered dish.

Family harmony is so hard to achieve because every person plays a different tune.

Hints

Make apple butter in your crockpot and you won't have to stir it continuously. It takes bout 12 hours on high depending on how thick you like it.

Weather wisdom

1. Rolling thunder in the fall means a hard winter.

2. When snow-drifts face the north spring will arrive early.

3. The first frost will occur six months after the first thunder in the spring.

4. When chickens stay out in the rain, it will last all day.

5. Crickets singing in the house tell of a long cold winter.

• Birthdays are good for you, the more you have the longer you live.

• Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

• Ever notice that the people who are late are often much jollier than the people who have to wait for them.

• If Wal-Mart is lowering prices everyday, how come nothing is free yet?

• You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

• Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
