It's the same in Houston County as in the whole country. People are so distracted by the war against terrorists they can't think of important things in their own backyard.
I live in District 2 and Larry Connery has my vote for Houston County Commissioner. He's not a politician. He's a citizen who already has a long record of public service.
Those of us who had to travel miles for our groceries have to thank the volunteers who organized not only a beautiful coop grocery store in Houston but also a pharmacy we haven't had in town for many, many years. We owe a lot to Larry who was the treasurer working long, long, hours as a volunteer. He is a man who truly believes in democratic consensus. The organizing group was volunteers who worked a long time to raise the money to open the store. It couldn't have been done without Larry's financial expertise. Now we have a store owned by hundreds of local households that bought memberships and made loans to help get the store off the ground.
Our Root River Market serves the community every day. It serves the needs of the elderly, of the sick and provides employment to local people.
Larry Connery's management experience and financial expertise will serve Houston County well.
