It has been my pleasure to serve as an attorney in the Fillmore County Attorney's Office for over 21 years, with the last six years as County Attorney. I have decided not to run for County Attorney because of increasing time demands of being County Attorney. At the present time, the position of County Attorney is a part time elected position. However, because of the number and complexity of criminal cases, zoning issues, child support matters, etc., the time demands are no longer conducive to also having a private law practice. As a result, I have decided to continue with my private practice and did not file for re-election.
I am proud of the many accomplishments that have been made in the County Attorney's Office over the last six years, including moving the County Attorney's Office into the Courthouse. Further, I have moved the office staff to full time to handle the workload, including the hiring of Eric Herendeen as full time Assistant County Attorney. Eric is familiar with the workings of the County Attorney's Office and has over six years experience in the office including experience as a law clerk prior to joining the office. I am encouraging the voters in Fillmore County to vote for Eric Herendeen as Fillmore County Attorney. I believe that now is the time for the position of Fillmore County Attorney to be filled by an attorney full time and for Fillmore County to be the only client of the County Attorney.
I urge Fillmore County voters to support Eric Herendeen as County Attorney.
