A Grazing Cover Crops Field Day will be held Saturday, April 2nd, from 1:00 ~ 3:00 pm at the Mike (Tom) Boelter Farm, 29254 181st Avenue, Wykoff, MN. There is no fee and no pre-registration needed for this event.

Directions: from Preston, MN travel north on Hwy 52 for approximately 6 miles to Fountain, or from Rochester, MN, south on Hwy 52 for 30 miles to Fountain, MN. In Fountain, go west on Co. Rd 8 for approximately 7 miles, then right (north) on County Road 5 about 2 miles to stop sign. Turn left (west) on County Road 4 for about ½ mile, then turn right (north) on 181st Ave. Follow the field day signs.

Points of Information:

· Comparing aerial seeding to no-till drilled winter rye;

· Comparing seeding rates of both aerial and no-till drilled winter rye;

· The corn silage field was no-till drilled with winter rye on October 2, 2010;

· The soybean field was seeded by helicopter with winter rye on September 2;

· The soybeans were harvested on October 8;

· The fields will be used for early season spring grazing;

· You will receive information on seeding rates and feed value of this early season pasture. (This is based on pasture data and analysis of samples collected in 2010. In a typical year, this rye might also be available for late fall grazing.)
